The focus for Polly’s practice is a continuing
investigation into the physical and emotional shaping imposed
on individuals throughout daily life. She
reflects the conflicts between security and restriction, light and dark moments,
precarious balance and the layering and erosion of experience.
Current works articulate the relief felt
when escaping from the banality of everyday life through
fantasy and daydream. |

When customising spaces to create
personal havens we randomly arrange objects, creating often
humorous or poetic combinations. Polly reconstructs
and recontextualises everyday items and ornaments, using
them as a substitute for personal identity, as they exemplify
our need for creativity and individuality. These works
are also photographed in the landscape to capture moments
of dreamt freedom whilst using humour to communicate with
the viewer and engage with their imagination.
